JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Electrical Engineer , located in Waukegan IL, reports to the Engineering Manager. This position provides engineering support for all aspects of manufacturing chemicals at the Waukegan facilities. The position will work cross-functionally across departments in the company, with the goal of improving efficiency, safety and product quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide support in the design, fabrication, procurement and installation of new physical systems, including managing and scheduling contractors for electrical control systems and mechanical installations.
Define sequence of operation for system controls.
Research and implement best practices to draw wiring schematics for control panels which include process valves, temperature sensors, system alarms, flow meters, pressure sensors, motor controls, etc.
Experience in designing control panels with HMI displays. Program HMI display to capture trending of temperatures, pressures, batch times, etc. Yokogawa Data Acquisition (DAQ) systems a plus.
Input settings and verify operation of electronic components such as temperature, pressure, and flow.
Provide technical leadership to troubleshoot equipment including cooling systems, heating systems, flow meters, and vacuum pumps.
Knowledgeable in reading and interpreting equipment wiring schematics/diagrams.
Analyze current equipment conditions, evaluates and recommends advanced technologies to improve equipment reliability, and safety.
Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code and area classifications for electrical installations.
Prepare engineering specifications for competitive cost estimates and purchase orders.
Develop, write and implement various technical documents including training documents, procedures and process instruction.
Support compliance with ISO and GMP practices and programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
Five years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, chemical manufacturing strongly preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Self-directed with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects.
Strong electrical aptitude required.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Understanding of root cause analysis techniques, 5S and 6 Sigma.
Superior communication skills - verbal and written. The ability to work in a team oriented organization.
Working knowledge of MS Office, project scheduling, CAD programs, Visio.
Experience with computerized maintenance software.
Familiarity with 480/240V 3 Phase and 120V single phase power distribution systems and motor controls.
DCS (distributed control systems) experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to five pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
