QualificationsTo qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 05/13/2021.Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:GS-5Do you possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-4) in the Federal Service that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the Health Technician? Specialized experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques related to the position and includes, but is not limited to: knowledge of computerized systems. Knowledge and understanding of patient conditions and medical interventions. Knowledge and understanding of clinical principles and impact on patient care. Communicating effectively orally and in writing.OR,GS-5 Substitution of Education and Training for Experience: Have you successfully completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position? This education must have been obtained in an accredited business or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED).OR,GS-5 Combining Education and Experience: Do you possess equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education that includes courses directly related to the work of the position and specialized experience to meet total experience requirements? Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (i.e. 30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED).You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

  • Computer SkillsExperience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.Physical Requirements: The work requires at various intervals, long periods of sitting to observe patients and or EKG monitors. Incumbent experiences extended periods during which continual visualization of monitors, various equipment, and computer screens is required.
