The Sales training manager will create a comprehensive Sales and Marketing Development program by leveraging internal and external resources and provide cross-functional experiences needed to build the key skills and competencies that will enable participants to better support and problem solve leading to increased customer satisfaction and bottom line results. Additionally, the Sales and Marketing skills leader will build an effective internal pipeline for the Sales organization within Stepan Company.

Key Functions:
Content Development and Facilitation:
• Partners with Polymer and Surfactant Senior Leadership, Regional/Business Management, R&D, IT, and HR to develop a comprehensive learning platform for the Sales and Marketing Organization leading to increased customer satisfaction and bottom line results.
• Applies innovative approaches to design, update, and improve learning content and career path opportunities that enhances the learning experience and on the job application
• Identifies global standards by market and application and assess proficiency.
•Demonstrates a passion for learning and continually develops and applies knowledge of sales and marketing principals to best meet the learners and company needs
•Develops a mix of self-serve and classroom-based learning content to support strategic business initiatives, improves sales and marketing competencies, and increase the sales force’s understanding of products, marketplace, global standards, and competitor trends

Project Management and Collaboration:
•Manages competing priorities and adapts to changes in project timelines, urgency, or compliance constraints
•Develops and implements short- and long-term project plans and meets objectives, milestones, and deliverables for project plans
•Identifies and manages the necessary resources for projects plans and training needs
•Partners with internal and external resources and Technical Acumen Leader to deliver and facilitate the learning content. 
•Creates pre-assessments and ongoing measurement tracking tools to evaluate the effectiveness, results, and performance of the program against business goals.
•Partners with key stakeholders and peers to ensure consistency, leverage resources, and share best practices 
•Collaborates with Marketing, R&D, and Operations to ensure that ongoing market trends, product training, and innovation opportunities and competitive information is transferred consistently and globally.

People Development and Coaching:
•Provides coaching, mentoring, and helps assess the success of development plans for the sales team and new hires
•Be a source for identifying high performers and developing them for succession planning and global opportunities
 

Qualifications

•8-10 Years Required; 10+ years preferred in Chemical Sales Industry
•Excellent project management skills
•Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills
•Proven skills working with cross-functional teams and ability to collaborate across functions and globally
•Strong coaching and facilitation skills
 

Education

•Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related field
