Summer School Teachers-Interventionist
Who We Are:
Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly
17,000 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located
halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the
shores of Lake Michigan. Our District has one early learning
center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high
school program divided between two 9 - 12th grade campuses. The
District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park

The Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 has set an
ambitious agenda for change, guided by the belief that all
children, regardless of circumstances, can achieve at high levels
and academic gaps can and will be eliminated with the support of
teachers who deliver engaging, relevant, and academically rigorous
instruction that excites students and instills a love of learning
Qualifications: Must have valid Illinois Professional Educators
License, Bilingual endorsement (ESL endorsement is a plus).
- Provide a minimum of 90 hours of instruction to students
following the district approved curriculum and professional
development strategies presented;
- Plan and submit daily lesson plans weekly to the site
coordinator using the provided template and selected materials
- Monitor and record student progress;
- Attend meetings scheduled by the site coordinator and all
professional development sessions;
- Prepare the assigned classroom to encourage engaged cooperative
small group learning, anchor charts and learning centers must be
- Participate in all program evaluations including administration
of formatiave assessments;
- Develop and follow a daily schedule;
- Classroom setup and implementation of curriculum should reflect
walk thru expectations;
- Sustain effects of professional development by the use of
strategies presented and comprehensive literacy approaches during
the regular school year.
Failure to fulfill these duties and responsibilities may result
in dismissal from the program. No more than two days can be missed
without jeopardizing dismissal and termination of the contract
unless extenuating circumstances prevail. The hourly rate per hour
will be deducted for each hour or partial hour missed. This
includes time before and after the start and end of the school day
and all professional development sessions. In the event that a
minimum class size is not maintained, the teacher is subject to
release from their contract. The teacher will be paid for each day
of service prior to the day of release.
Additional Information: Professional Development days are June
9th-June 10th, 2021. Candidates will work Monday through Friday,
June 7th - Aug 30th, 2021.
