Status of Employment:
Compensation: $ 13.00 per hour or higher depending on
Planning, organizing, supervision, and oversight of day to day
operations of activities for youth in both indoor and outdoor
Oversee and supervise BASE programs and services. May provide
direct leadership and supervision to BASE programs and services.
Create developmentally appropriate activities that meet the needs
and interests of participants. Plan and implement the schedule of
activities in the program setting. Assist in the development and
implementation of goals and objectives specific to area of
responsibility. Assist in the evaluation of programs and services
in the assigned area of responsibility. Make and implement
recommendations. Assist in the recruitment, selection, training,
supervision, and evaluation of assigned staff and volunteers.
Coordinate with Recreation Specialist and Recreation Supervisor to
schedule staff. Assist with assessments of new program
participants. Assist in the preparation and maintenance of reports
and records regarding participants, programs, and services. Ensure
counselors maintain facilities in a clean, organized, and neat
manner. May transport supplies via a park district vehicle. Assist
in the purchase, distribution, and maintenance of proper inventory
of all supplies and materials. Establish cooperative working
relationship with coworkers, parents, community agencies, and
organizations. Attend pertinent departmental/park district meetings
and in-house training sessions. Conduct self according to the
policies and procedures as established by the park district. May
open and close facilities. Wear assigned uniforms while on duty.
Participate in the park district Safety and Training Program.
18+ years (21+ years of age for driving purposes).
High School Diploma or GED required, some college preferred.
Working with youth and supervision of youth in a recreational
setting. Supervision of seasonal or part time staff and volunteers
in a recreational setting preferred.
General knowledge of recreation, parks and leisure services.
Specific knowledge of developmentally appropriate activities for
youth in a recreational environment. Specific knowledge of out of
school programs and services.
License / Certification:
Valid driver's license preferred; required for programs
including transportation. Valid Child First Aid and CPR
Certification required within one year.
Monday - Friday afternoons from 3:00pm-6:30pm with possible
morning hours from 6:00am-10:00am. Hours may vary depending on
