We are currently seeking several experienced Change Over/Setup Technicians for our 1st Shift, 2nd Shift and 3rd Shift manufacturing operations with a minimum of 2 years related experience. This position will be located at our manufacturing facility in Waukegan, Illinois. The open position is described as follows:

Position Purpose/Summary: The Setup Technician is responsible for the maintenance of machinery and equipment, to include troubleshooting machinery errors.

Education: Technical Degree or equivalent educational/military experience

Experience (years and topics):

1 - 3 yrs. prior Setup/Change-Over Technician experience

Liquid filling Machine experience strongly preferred

Strong mechanical aptitude

Technology/Software (years): Basic computer skills including Microsoft word & Excel

Communication: Bilingual English/Spanish is helpful.

Physical Capabilities

Strength: Must be able to regularly lift 55 lbs.

Movement: Must be able to stand / walk for an entire eight hour shift. Occasional bending, crouching, and crawling

Hearing: Must be able to hear and understand work direction in a loud, distracting environment

Vision: Must be able to judge distance, identify details, and view computer screen regularly

Tools (own): MUST SUPPLY and use own tools

Position Responsibilities-Tasks-Deliverables

All duties as assigned and the following specific activities. (enlarge space as needed)

Add, remove and adjust packaging machinery, such as case erector, bottle sorter, date code machinery, and cappers, to run various sizes of product and liquid fill packaging production cells.

Troubleshoot machine and auxiliary equipment problems, during setup/change-over, and make necessary changes to ensure quality and reduce downtime

Organizing change parts and maintaining areas as directed by management to facilitate rapid changeover protocols.

Promote safety by abiding by all related policies and procedures and set a good example for others

On-going outcome that is measurable (minimum of 3)

Communicate effectively and professionally with employees, at all levels of the organization, and customers.

Demonstrates critical thinking when troubleshooting machinery.

Displays workplace safety awareness by adhering to company safety policies/procedures.

Position Requirements

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for adding, removing and adjusting packaging machinery to run various sizes of product and liquid fill packaging production cells
    • Machinery included in scope to include filler adjustments and setup, case erector, bottle sorter, date code machinery, print and apply application, capper and torque setup/adjustments, conveyance equipment, transfer and accumulation equipment
  • Working in a team environment alongside mechanics and sanitation crew this position will be responsible for documenting the overall setup process and adhering to time standards as set by management
  • Organizing change parts and maintaining areas as directed by management to facilitate rapid changeover protocols
  • Participate in team based kaizen and continuous improvement activities focused on reducing overall change over times
  • Familiarity with machinery and proper use of tools
    • Metric and standard tooling knowledge
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Good written communication
  • Good organizational skills
  • Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge
Minimum requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2-5 years prior experience in similar position
  • Speaks and reads English; bilingual Spanish a plus
