SummaryAbout the Position: The U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command, headquartered in North Chicago, IL, is a jointly staffed command, staffed by representatives of all branches of the Armed Forces. The command, through its 67 military processing locations (Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS)/Remote Processing Stations (RPS)), determines whether applicants are qualified for enlistment based on standards set by each of the services.This position will be filled on a permanent basis. Learn more about this agency Responsibilities Develop, implement, and disseminate Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Career Exploration Program (CEP) policies and technical guidance. Prepare reports, briefings, and information papers pertaining to all programmatic aspects. Prepare sample program marketing materials such as scheduling letters, thank you letters, testing announcements, advertisements, etc. for use by Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Education Services Specialists (ESSs). Develop training programs and materials for Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Education Services Specialists (ESSs), service recruiters, school counselors, and counselor educators. For guidance counselor positions, a college or university-sponsored practicum in counseling is also required.Tests and measurement: Study of the selection, evaluation, administration, scoring, interpretation, and uses of group and individual aptitude, proficiency, interest, and other tests.Adult education: Study of the adult as a learner, teaching-learning theories for adults, models and procedures for planning, designing, managing, and evaluating adult learning activities.Educational program administration: Study of the foundation and methods in organizing for adult and continuing education programs.Curriculum development or design: Study of the principles and techniques for development of curricula for adult or vocational education programs.Teaching methods: Study of teaching strategies and learning styles of the adult learner.Guidance and counseling: Study of the purposes and methods in counseling and guidance, the role of the counselor in various settings, approaches to counseling, and the uses of tests in the counseling situation.Career planning: Study of career development, learning activities, systems, approaches, program coordination, use of educational and community resources, and vocational counseling systems.Occupational information: Study of theories of occupational choice and vocational development and their application to the guidance process. Identification and utilization of various types of occupational information and resources.In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:Specialized Experience: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11). Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, including: Coordinating, maintaining, and executing programmatic activities to support student testing program marketing plans; Developing policies, goals, and objectives to increase total student testing; Negotiating with nonparticipating and participating educational organizations to improve and sustain participation in the student testing program; Analyzing state and local educational program to develop marketing to retain and increase student testing program use; Reviewing program operations to recommend improvements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
