Job Description:
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for payroll
operations within a multi-state payroll environment. This position
will manage payroll functions, including calculating employee
paychecks, withholding taxes, and any other deductions, as well as
maintaining accurate payroll records. This role will ensure that
payroll is processed accurately, efficiently, and timely and will
ensure compliance with all country, federal, state, local payroll
and regulatory requirements. This position will also have ownership
over the administration of payroll policies and procedures,
regulations, payroll tax compliance, and all master payroll
calendars and processing schedules. Job RESPONSIBILITIES: Process
weekly and bi-weekly payroll and perform any payroll system
maintenance and updates. Execute state registrations, adjustments
to payroll, such as garnishments, deductions, wage assignments,
paid vacation, etc. Review Time and Attendance information for
completeness and accuracy - support timecard managers with issues
and/or questions. Manage and ensure monthly, quarterly, and yearly
reports and filings with payroll provider (ADP), including tax
liabilities. Act as the contact person for internal or external
audits of payroll records, systems and procedures. Serve as a
technical resource to HR and other departments to address and
resolve payroll related inquiries and problems. Provide accurate,
and timely analysis of payroll information and financial reporting.
Establish and maintain payroll policies and procedures. Make
recommendations for changes in policies and procedures as
appropriate. Interpret and apply company policies, guidelines, and
regulations to ensure compliance. Reviews and processes
compensation change requests to ensure compliance with established
guidelines, policies, and practices. Maintains knowledge of current
state, local and federal legislation affecting payroll and
compensation administration. Learn and manage reporting and
analytics for treasury/tax functions as needed. All other duties as
assigned.
Knowledge, SKILLS, AND ABILITiES: Must possess a strong knowledge
of employment and labor law, both federal and state. Demonstrates a
good grasp of knowledge and principles for various compensation
processes, specifically in the areas of data integrity, reporting,
time & labor and payroll. Great analytic abilities are required
Strong communication skills; both written and verbal. Proficiency
in Microsoft Office Suite Critical thinking, problem solving, and
decision-making skills are a must for this position Detail oriented
with an emphasis placed on accuracy Ability to adapt to change,
develop and train and/or learn new processes Well-organized; able
to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced
environment. Ability to work with others in a collaborative team
environment.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
EXPERIENCE: 5-7 years payroll processing experience. Experience in
HRIS systems and payroll systems; ADP Workforce Now knowledge is a
plus. Experience working in a fast paced, entrepreneurial, rapid
growth environment.
Physical Requirements: Extended periods of sitting up to 50% of the
time. Constantly operating computers and office equipment. WORK
