Job Description:

With offices in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio, Pepper Construction is a national general contracting and construction management firm that primarily serves the private sector. Pepper Construction provides clients the experience and resources of a national company, combined with the hands-on approach of a local company.

Prepares and processes weekly and bi-weekly payroll using Ceridian Dayforce, and files reports for union and nonunion tradespeople ensuring compliance and satisfying internal controls.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Demonstrate complete confidentiality in working with payroll information
• Ensure compliance with company policies regarding payroll, including internal controls
• Interact with employees to ensure that questions are responded to professionally utilizing and understanding of company policies and taxing regulations
• Process payrolls for multiple companies with total workforce approximately 1,000.
• Interpret and apply payroll tax law and statutory requirements (garnishments, liens, and child support)
• Prepare necessary monthly journal entries
• Assist with reconciliation of monthly/quarterly/annual payroll tax returns
• Aid in annual/periodic union audits
• Stay informed of changes in tax and deduction laws that apply to the payroll process
• Special projects as assigned
  
  POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  
  
  • Minimum of 3 years of payroll experience
  • Multi-State Payroll experience
  • Demonstrated high standards of ethics and integrity
  • Committed to accuracy and detail
  • Ability to analyze issues and recommend solutions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management
  • Ceridian Dayforce experience highly desired
  • FPC designation preferred
  • Union payroll experience preferred
