Job Description:
Position Requirements:Must be a graduate from an accredited AMA
School of Radiology.Registry eligible, with an IEMA temporary.IEMA
accreditation in medical radiation technologyAmerican Registry of
Radiologic Technologists registered (ARRT) within 6 months of hire
date.CPR certifiedKnowledge of HIS systemBasic Knowledge of RIS
systemEffective interpersonal skillsAbility to interact with
customers from all levelsMust be able to make independent
professional decisions pertaining to high quality patient careHigh
degree of technical skillsMust be able to function with minimal
assistance in performing job activitiesMust be conscientious in
practicing high quality patient careAbility to work rotating shifts
any day of the weekRadiation exposureMust be able to deal with
extremely ill patientsAbility to lift and/or move patients. Heavy
lifting: Lifting 50 to 100 pounds occasionally and/or 25 to 50
pounds frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds constantly.Must be able to
work in a fast-paced environment with established time
constraintsMay be exposed to hazardous materials and
life-threatening diseases.This position can recognize needs and
behaviors of the following age groups: pediatric (newborn, toddler,
and school-age), adolescent, adult, and older adult.Evidence of
this can be shown by recognizing levels of development and
modifying approach and exhibiting communication skills necessary to
interpret age specific responses.If position has direct patient
care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement
supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient
lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with
the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with
at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient
lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case
basis.Purpose:To perform routine and advanced radiographic
procedures on designated portion of the body for use by physicians
in diagnosing and treating patient illness and/or injury to ensure
patient safety and quality care.Accountabilities:Determination of
appropriate radiologic technique and position for patient using
immobilization and support devices.Provision of instruction and
orientation to technologists and new technologists to effectively
participate in the assessment of their performance
reviews.Adherence to all accepted safety standards and practices to
ensure patient safety and quality patient care.Coordination of
quality control task (checking your radiographic films to ensure
optimal quality, etc.).Operation of radiographic (fluoroscopic,
surgery, and C-arm) equipment.Participation in problem-solving
issues addressing patients, department operations, quality
assurance procedures, interdepartmental relationships and employee
morale. This would include rounding with the OR scheduler 2x a day
to avoid problems in the schedule.Addendum:Updated body and
